FLAGSHIP project:
Guatemala is still beset by major structural poverty which particularly affects the most disadvantaged and remote rural areas. Rural schools are often incomplete with only one teacher who often lacks the necessary skills. In terms of inequalities between boys and girls, Guatemala also has important shortcomings despite the significant progress made in the education of women. Moreover, the illiteracy rate among adults is 31% according to the latest report of the PNUD.
Fundación del Valle supports educational initiatives that help break the cycle of poverty. With this determination, we have made it possible for nearly 4,480 girls and women in the poorest departments to have a decent future.
