We are present in the Dominican Republic because of the synergy we have established with INDESCO, local partner in the country. Since its foundation, this NGO has developed several projects, and its main objective is to promote the construction of cultural and educational centres. The ultimate goal of its activities is to provide a quality comprehensive education to Dominicans, regardless of race, condition, age and religion, with special attention to women.
They are so many similarities that unite us to INDESCO, in fact, one of our lines of action which we have in Latin American territory is the development of projects that promote the empowerment of women and encourage economic growth through training for entrepreneurship and business management.
It is however in Haiti, where, through INDESCO, we participate in the reconstruction of Picsou school, located in Port-au-Prince. Through the collaboration with the Dominican NGO, the building, devastated by the earthquake of 2010, will have a new structure in line with international standards against earthquakes.
Beyond this project, from our Foundation we encourage young Spanish volunteer to take trips to the Dominican Republic. Thus, in 2010, a group of students from the Centro Universitario Villanueva travelled to the country to support several activities of our local partner INDESCO.
